Hyundai is planning a big expansion of its SUV lineup in India. Between 2026 and 2027, the brand will launch four new SUVs, including facelifts, next-gen models, and an all-electric micro-SUV. Here’s a closer look at what buyers can expect.
The Hyundai Exter, turning three this July, is set for a mid-life facelift. Sales have not matched rivals like the Tata Punch, so Hyundai is updating the design and features to make it more appealing.
On the outside, the facelift could include a new front grille, updated graphics in the split headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, and redesigned bumpers. Inside, the SUV may get ventilated front seats, a new infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a rear USB Type-C charging port. Engine and transmission options are expected to remain the same.

The second-generation Hyundai Bayon (codename BC4i) will be larger, more stylish, and loaded with better technology than the first model. Positioned above the all-new Venue, it will target Asian and Latin American markets.
The Bayon will likely come with Hyundai’s new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, possibly the most powerful in its segment, while a 1.0-litre turbo petrol option may also be offered. The Hyundai new car launch in India is expected around September 2026.
Hyundai will also bring an electric micro-SUV to India in early 2027, codenamed HE1i. Designed to rival the Tata Punch.ev, it will be slightly bigger and taller than the Exter with a practical boxy design.
Spy shots reveal split headlamps, slim pixel-style rear lamps, flush door handles, and raised roof rails. Inside, buyers can expect a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, ventilated seats, a wireless phone charger, and an electric sunroof. This marks Hyundai HE1i EV India launch as a key step in the brand’s EV strategy.
The third-generation Hyundai Creta, expected by the third quarter of 2027, will be bigger, more spacious, and more premium. Built on the all-new K3 platform, it will have improved structural rigidity and lower NVH levels.
The new Creta will have a stronger road presence with larger dimensions, design cues inspired by the Crater concept, and bigger 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it will share features with the HE1i, including the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment, and a powered tailgate. This next-gen model is expected to strengthen Hyundai’s presence in the compact SUV segment.
