Hyundai Exter facelift launch in India expected soon. Cabin upgrades and more safety tech likely. Same petrol and CNG engines to continue.
Hyundai is all set to introduce multiple new models this year, and one of the key updates will be the Hyundai Exter facelift. The updated micro SUV has been spotted testing several times in recent months. The latest spy shots from Korea reveal the front, side and rear profile of the upcoming model.
The test vehicle was heavily camouflaged, but several details could still be identified.

At first glance, the 2026 Exter facelift looks largely similar to the current model. The grille, headlamps and tail-lamps appear unchanged. The bumper design also seems familiar, although minor tweaks could be hidden under the camouflage.
The spotted unit was running on steel wheels, indicating that Hyundai could be testing a base variant. In the current lineup, the EX and EX(O) trims come with R14 steel wheels.

The muscular wheel arch cladding remains intact. These elements help give the Exter a strong SUV-like stance. There were no roof rails on the test car, which is consistent with the base variant of the existing model.
Overall, major exterior changes are unlikely.

While the outside may remain similar, the cabin is expected to receive noticeable improvements. The Exter facelift could get a larger infotainment system and updated graphics for the digital instrument cluster. The connected car features may also be upgraded for a better user experience.
Hyundai may also introduce features such as ventilated front seats, front and rear armrests and rear sunshades. These additions would make the Exter more comfortable for long journeys. Minor changes in interior theme and materials are also possible.
The current Exter already offers a strong safety package. It comes with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management, rear parking sensors, rear camera with dynamic guidelines, hill start assist control (HAC) and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It also features a built-in dashcam.
With the facelift, Hyundai could further strengthen safety by adding more advanced driver assistance features.
Hyundai Exter facelift is expected to continue with the existing powertrains. It is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83 PS and 113.8 Nm of torque. You can choose between a 5-speed manual and a Smart Auto AMT transmission.
There is also a bi-fuel petrol + CNG option. In CNG mode, the engine generates 69 PS and 95.2 Nm of torque. The CNG variant is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Once launched, the updated Exter will continue to rival the Tata Punch and Maruti Fronx.
With additional features and tech upgrades, a slight price increase is likely. The current Exter is priced between Rs 5.64 lakh and Rs 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted model is expected to arrive in India soon.
