Hyundai Creta Hybrid to Kia Carnival Hybrid - 4 Upcoming Models for India
Hyundai Creta Hybrid could get a strong-hybrid powertrain. Kia Seltos Hybrid is expected to arrive in India in 2027. Kia Carnival Hybrid could bring hybrid technology to the premium MPV segment.
Hyundai and Kia are planning to bring more hybrid vehicles to India, including two midsize SUVs, a new three-row SUV and a premium MPV. The upcoming models are the Hyundai Creta Hybrid, Kia Seltos Hybrid, a new Hyundai 7-seater SUV and the Kia Carnival Hybrid. These models could offer buyers more choices for better fuel efficiency without needing to charge their vehicles externally. Here is what to expect from each model.
1. Hyundai Creta Hybrid
The next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to get a strong-hybrid option along with petrol and diesel versions. It could use a hybrid version of the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The new Creta Hybrid is also expected to share its hybrid technology with the next-generation Kia Seltos. If launched, it could compete with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which already offer strong-hybrid options. Hyundai has confirmed plans for a next-generation Creta before 2030. However, the launch date, engine details and fuel efficiency of the hybrid version are yet to be announced.

2. Kia Seltos Hybrid
The Kia Seltos Hybrid is expected to launch in India in 2027. Kia showcased the model at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The global version gets a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid engine that produces 178 hp. However, Kia has not confirmed whether the India-spec model will get the same engine. The hybrid version is expected to join the existing petrol and diesel models. It could compete with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. More details about its price, features and mileage are expected closer to launch.
3. New Hyundai 7-Seater SUV
Hyundai is reportedly developing a new three-row SUV for India, currently known by the codename Ni1i. It is expected to sit between the Alcazar and Tucson in the company's lineup. The new SUV could offer three-row seating and more space for families. A strong-hybrid engine is also a possibility, but Hyundai has not confirmed the powertrain or launch date. Depending on its size and price, the SUV could compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. More details about its name, features and engine options are awaited.
4. Kia Carnival Hybrid
The Kia Carnival Hybrid is expected to join the brand's premium MPV lineup in India. Pre-bookings are reported to be open ahead of its expected launch. It uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 180 PS and 265 Nm, while the electric motor delivers 73.4 PS and 304 Nm. The India-spec model is expected to come in the top-spec Limousine+ variant. Features are expected to include dual digital displays, Level 2 ADAS, heated and ventilated powered seats, a 360-degree camera and eight airbags. With three-row seating and premium features, the Carnival Hybrid could appeal to large families and buyers looking for a spacious luxury MPV. Its final price, launch date and India-specific specifications are yet to be confirmed.
