Lexus has revealed two of its concept cars at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Of the two, the Lexus ROV is one unique hydrogen-powered vehicle concept that offers near zero-emission driving with extreme off-roading capability. Previously revealed at the Japanese Mobility Show in 2023, this concept reflected exhilarating driving with carbon-free mobility.
The design of the ROV concept bears all the true hallmarks of an off-road vehicle with its exposed suspension, protective cage, and chunky tires for driving through muddy tracks and rough terrains.
This concept offered us a glimpse of luxury without losing the rugged performance. The car incorporates the iconic Lexus signature grille and the body protects passengers.
The suspension cover is connected with the rear hydrogen fuel tank that protects functional parts while conveying the sense of durability inherited in Lexus SUVs. Lexus ‘L’-motif front and rear lights and the rear LEXUS badge express the latest Lexus design language.
This hydrogen-powered concept showcased Lexus' aim to preserve the true off-roading adventure in tomorrow's low-carbon society. The ROV Concept symbolizes the exciting sound of an ICE and the responsive rise in torque that comes from the fast combustion speed of hydrogen.
Its 1.0-litre hydrogen engine works just like a petrol engine, but with a high-pressure tank for compressed hydrogen which is produced just by a direct hydrogen injector.
This hydrogen engine produces close to zero emissions, with a minor amount of engine oil burned during driving.
With a lightweight body composed of a strong pipe frame and suspension that boasts a large amount of travel, this concept is designed for dynamic and comfortable driving. The elegant design and responsiveness of the hydrogen engine make the Lexus ROV a fun vehicle to drive with exceptional off-road capability.
