Tata Motors has now confirmed that the Harrier EV will come to the Indian market by March 2025. The first look of this SUV is unveiled in its pre-production variant at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. It will join Tata's ever-expanding electric vehicle (EV) portfolio.
The Harrier EV is to be a similar-looking vehicle to the recent launch of the facelift of the Harrier. It will sport an all-new grille, redesigned alloy wheels, and a revised front bumper. The rear design would follow the removal of the exhaust system given on an electric vehicle. All these updates would make the Harrier EV look clean and fashion-forward while retaining the guts of the model. Tata Motors hasn't brought out the details of the battery but promises competitive mileage.
The Tata Harrier EV is part of the EV-first strategy that Tata adopted, which in simple words meant that they would first develop electric variants before petrol or diesel variants. So far, Tata has already come out with electric models, which include the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV, among others. Next year, 2025, will see up to 10 electric models unveiled by Tata, among them, will be the Sierra EV, set for its later release in the year 2025.
The Harrier EV will challenge the Mahindra XUV.e8 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric SUVs, among others. Tata Motors would want the Harrier EV to be every bit as aggressive at affordable price points with a lot of advanced technology on board.
Tata Motors is now aimed at establishing dominance over the Indian EV market with its growing portfolio of electric cars, starting with the Harrier EV.
