Volkswagen will reportedly unveil its latest entry SUV called Tera in March 2025. The car is likely a compact SUV rivaling the likes of the Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian. It will be positioned below the Nivus and T-Cross in VW’s global line-up. The Tera will be an inexpensive option for those looking for a compact SUV.
The Volkswagen Tera will come with a new design language which is an inspiration from recently launched European and North American models. The front facade will have complete LED headlights and daytime running lights on top, giving it a great contemporary look. The bumpers will be uniquely styled as well, boasting a broad black bar that gives it an aggressive image. Side profile lines will be clean, rounded and with wheel arches, and black plastic cladding for more SUV character.
Tera will be built on the MQB-A0 platform, just like Polo, T-Cross, and Nivus. The same MQB-A0 platform as the Skoda Kylaq. The Tera will be around 4 meters long and have a wheelbase of 2,566 mm. That is about the same size as the Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian.
Under the hood, the Tera will feature a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This will churn out 116 horsepower and the transmission will be available in a manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The expectation is that this powertrain will offer good efficiency with perfect performance on the urban and highway modes.
Now, company sources have also confirmed plans for a sub-4 meter SUV specifically for the Indian market. The India-specific model will share the design and interior features of the Tera but will be tailored to local preferences. It will likely be launched in 2025.
While no price for the Volkswagen Tera has been announced. It is expected to run in the same ballpark as its competitors, Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian. The former two are apparently priced between Rs. 18.85 lakh and Rs. 24.26 lakh. So, Volkswagen Tera likely will fit into that range.
With its affordable price and modern features, the Volkswagen Tera is expected to attract a lot of attention when it debuts in 2025.
