As per the 2023 Economic Survey, it is said that the EV market will encounter a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 49 percent by 2030. Undoubtedly, it sounds to be true as electric cars have also achieved significant growth in recent years. However, there are a few factors that make customers reluctant to buy a new electric car. One of these is the fear of spending extra money on EVs. But soon that will not be the case. In coming months, the Indian car market is going to witness the introduction of a couple EV’s that will be available for sale between the price bracket of Rs 7 lakh to 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
For those who are willing to purchase a new EV under Rs 10 lakh, we are listing three electric cars that are coming your way in the near future.

The Comet EV will be the most affordable electric car in India from MG Motors. It will make its debut in the country on the 19th of April 2023. According to media reports, the EV will come equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack. Its expected range would be around 250 kms on a single charge. Besides that, the compact electric hatchback will offer two driving modes; Normal and Sport. Although the accurate pricing is not yet revealed, the company will keep its upcoming EV under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Motors showcased the electric version of Punch at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023. The company is likely to launch its electric offering in the market by September 2023. It is said that the Tata Punch EV will be powered by two battery options; Medium Range and Long Range. The former will use a 26 kWh battery that powers a single electric motor. It will produce 74 bhp of power output with 170 Nm of peak torque. Whereas the Long Range version will utilize a 30.2 kWh battery pack, powering a single motor that would generate 140 bhp and 250 Nm torque. In terms of pricing, the ICE-powered Tata Punch ranges from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). For the upcoming Punch EV, the company may set its price more than the ICE-powered version.

French automaker Renault launched the Kwid EV (also called City K-ZE) in China back in 2019. The company also claimed to bring the K-ZE hatchback to the Indian car market sometime in 2023 or early 2024. The Chinese version of the car uses a 26.8kWh battery pack which can produce 43 bhp of power output and 125 Nm of peak torque. However, for the India-spec model, the battery details have not been revealed yet. But, once it is launched, the expected price of the Kwid EV is believed to be around Rs 7 to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) for Indian customers.
