Slotted above the S Presso, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a five-seater hatchback with a best-in-class mileage figure. With the Celerio there are eight variants on offer from LXi to ZXi+. CNG comes with the VXi trim only and has a mileage of 34.43 kilometres. Equipment on offer is decent and automatic transmission (AGS) available which is a segment first, claims Maruti.
With only a 1-litre petrol engine shared across the variants, prices for the Celerio start at Rs. 5.36 lakh. VXi CNG model at Rs. 6.73 lakh is pricier by Rs. 11,000 than the ZXi AGS, while the range-topping ZXi+ comes at Rs. 7.10 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Wagon R needs no introduction and is available in 11 variants and two engines, 1-litre and 1.2-litre petrol. Both mills can be paired to a manual or automatic transmission but the smaller engine does not get the ZXi line of trims, unlike its elder sibling. Since CNG is exclusively available with the smaller engine, you can get it with LXi and VXi variants only.
Prices of the trims coming with the 1-litre motor are from Rs. 5.54 lakh to Rs. 6.89 lakh. For the bigger 1.2-litre engine, you will have to pay Rs. 7.38 lakh (ZXi+ AT dual tone). The top-selling VXi CNG comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 6.89 lakh.

Maruti’s entry-level hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is the most affordable offering from the Japanese carmaker. Available with a 1-litre engine (which makes 66 hp, 89 Nm), mileages are 24.39 km/l and 33.85 km/kg for petrol and CNG variants, respectively.
If fuel efficiency concerns you, go with CNG. The only catch is that you can only buy the CNG car with a manual transmission, prices of which start at Rs. 5.74 lakh. Its VXi S CNG model is available for Rs. 5.96 lakh, an increment of only Rs. 22,000. We recommend that you go with this variant as the premium is justified.
