Fuel-efficient cars have always been the sought-after factor for Indian car buyers while looking to purchase a new car. Among many requirements like good looks, feature-loaded interior, comfortable cabin and performance mileage remain essential criteria.
A bit different, not taking into account their price. We at CarLelo have compiled a list of cars and SUVs that you can check out delivering more than 1000 kms of range on a single tank. The fuel efficiency figures stated here are ARAI-certified.
Let’s take a look.

A perfect blend between ICE and Hybrid powertrain, the Honda City e:HEV lets you enjoy the best of both worlds. With a nameplate that has many enthusiasts vouching for it, the strong-hybrid City offers a fuel economy of 27.13 kmpl with a fuel tank of 40 litres. This brings an expected range of 1085 kms total on a single tank! Amazing? Yes! This makes the Hybrid City, the most fuel-efficient sedan in India.

Featuring the latest technology and innovation, Grand Vitara Hybrid is Maruti Suzuki’s offering in the compact SUV segment. It offers premium appeal, ample features and comfort to its occupants. Mileage-wise, it is said to deliver 27.97 kmpl alongside a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres. Keeping mileage in mind, it can go up to 1259 kms on a single tank. This makes it a fuel-efficient compact SUV.

Toyota Innova is a model which needs no introduction and many have tried to take the battle to this nameplate but have failed miserably. It has been an MPV that symbolises space, comfort, performance and reliability. What it did not have was upmarket looks and a better fuel economy. To counter that, Toyota Kirloskar Motors brought in the Innova Hycross. Providing an SUV sort of look upfront, the vehicle stands tall on its people’s mover tag.
With a comfortable cabin catering to 7/8 seat configuration, the four-wheeler offers strong hybrid technology. Equipped with a petrol powertrain, it manages to return 23.24 kmpl mileage. Featuring a fuel tank of 52 litres, you are ensured a range of 1208 kms on one full top-up.
Now, the Innova name just got a bit more difficult to beat!
Going back to old school, in the era of electric, petrol and hybrid powertrains; diesel engines still remain frugal to date.

It has a 50-litre fuel tank. As a result, you can achieve a range of 1090 kms on a single tank.

With the introduction of Nexon, Tata Motor unearthed the recipe for success. From taking on the competition to becoming the segment leader in terms of sales the Tata Nexon has come a long way. The recent generation change has ensured the cherry on the icing as more and more customers are getting pulled toward its subcompact SUV credential. Offering multiple fuel options, the vehicle in its diesel avatar is the most fuel-efficient. Featuring a 44-litre tank it provides a mileage of 1056 kms on a single tank.

Equipped with multiple engine and transmission options, the SUV’s diesel variants return a fuel economy of 23.4 kmpl with a 45-litre fuel tank. Be assured to get a range of 1053 kms on a full tank.
