2023 was a busy year for the Indian automotive industry with multiple brands launching brand-new models and facelifts. With sales touching an all-time high during this festive season, this trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. The end of the year is going to witness the launch of the Kia Sonet facelift and the 2025 Renault Duster. Here is a list of the most awaited new car models for 2024.

India’s best-selling compact SUV, the Hyundai Creta is slated to receive a facelift soon. The exterior design will be inspired by the Palisade flagship SUV. It will feature split LED headlights with vertical LED DRLs, a larger grille with metallic horizontal slats, different alloy wheels and new LED tail lights connected by a full-width lightbar.
Moving inside, the Creta facelift’s interior will remain similar to the current model but may get new upholstery. Hyundai is also expected to offer more features like a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system, 360-degree camera, and ADAS tech.
Powering the new Creta will either be 1.5-litre turbo petrol or 1.5-litre turbo diesel, producing around 160 bhp and 115 bhp respectively. Both manual, IVT and DCT transmission will be on offer.
Expect Hyundai to launch the new Creta in India by the first quarter of 2024.

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is one of the most highly anticipated new car launches for 2024. Based on the current 3-door model, the new Thar 5-door will be longer than its sibling while the additional pair of doors will offer more practicality for daily use. It also gets unique styling elements like LED projector headlights and DRLs, a horizontal slatted grille and new LED tail lights.
Updates to the interior will include a larger 10-inch infotainment system with connected car tech, semi-digital instrument cluster, factory-fitted dash cam, front and rear armrest and an electric sunroof as the SUV will be offered with a hardtop only.
Mahindra will offer a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel powertrain with the Thar 5-Door. The former makes 150 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque while the latter pumps out 130 bhp with 300 Nm of max torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Showcased at the 2023 Indian Auto Expo, the Curvv is one the best-looking Tata models ever. The coupe-SUV design with its sloping roofline looks striking while the flared wheel arches and raised ride height give it a purposeful stance. Other design highlights include LED headlights with a full-width LED light bar, flush-fitting door handles, aero-efficient alloy wheels, and sleek LED tail lights.
Inside, the Curvv will get a dual-screen setup for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. It will also get features like a panoramic sunroof, Haptic Touch climate controls, connected car tech, multiple driving modes, and more.
The Tata Curvv will likely launch as an EV first. It will borrow the powertrain from the Nexon.ev that offers a range of up to 450 km. A 120 bhp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol version is expected to join the lineup soon after.
Tata Motors is slated to launch the Curvv in India around mid-2024.

Suzuki cars had recently unveiled the next-gen Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show. The new hatchback is based on the same platform as the current model and retains the familiar silhouette. It does get fresh design elements like sharp LED headlights and DRLs, a bigger grille, a clamshell bonnet, new doors, and angular LED tail lights.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift’s interior has been updated as well with a new dual-tone theme, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a larger infotainment system, a new steering wheel and updated climate controls.
For India, the next-gen Maruti Swift will be offered with an updated 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine making the same 89 bhp and 113 Nm of max torque. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Expect Maruti to launch the all-new Swift by late 2024.

Tata is going to expand its already strong EV lineup with the launch of the Punch EV by early 2024. Like all Tata EVs, the design will remain similar to its ICE counterpart but will get a few changes like .ev badging, blue highlights all around, and rear disc brakes. Even the interior will be the same as the Punch petrol, with the biggest changes expected to be a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a twin-spoke steering wheel.
While Tata is yet to reveal the powertrain details, expect the Punch EV to use the same Ziptron setup as the Tiago.ev. It will use a 30 kWh battery pack that powers a single electric motor making 75 bhp with 115 Nm of max torque. Fully charged, the Punch EV will have a range of around 300 km.

The extensively facelifted Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be launched by early 2024. The subcompact SUV will get a redesigned front and rear end that will bring it up to date with the automaker’s current design language. Changes include new LED headlights and DRLs, a larger front grille, LED tail lights connected by a lightbar and redesigned bumpers.
There will also be a raft of changes to the XUV300’s interior. The facelift will come with new features like a digital instrument cluster, a larger infotainment system, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and more.
Mahindra will offer the XUV300 with both petrol and diesel options. The former makes 110 bhp with 200 Nm or 130 bhp with 230 Nm of max torque. Meanwhile, the diesel unit pumps out 115 bhp with 300 Nm of max torque. A 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic will be the transmission choices.
The new XUV300 facelift will compete against the likes of the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift, which is due to launch by the end of 2023.
