First launched in 2005, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been one of the best-selling hatchback on sale in the Indian market. This entry-level hatchback is known for its stylish looks, efficient powertrains and spacious cabins. Moreover, its low ownership cost makes it one of the favourite models among car buyers of India.
Maruti Suzuki had launched the 4th generation Swift hatchback in May 2024. MSIL had sold over 19,000 units of the sporty hatchback in the first month of its sales. In fact, the new Swift became the top-selling car in the month of May 2024. So if you are in the market to buy a new car, then here are all the reasons to pick a Maruti Suzuki Swift.

The overall silhouette of the new Maruti Swift appears largely identical to the third-gen model. However, it comes with some changes to keep things fresh in the market. This hatchback comes with a new front bumper, a sharper & smaller radiator grille, and a newly styled headlights and fog lights. Instead of C-pillar mounted rear door handles, the new Swift has conventionally placed door handles.
Other changes include newly styled tail-lights, and new alloys. The C-pillar is finished in glossy black, giving it a floating roof effect. The new model is 15mm longer, 40mm narrower and 30mm taller than the previous model; however, it retains the 2,450mm wheelbase.

The new Suzuki Swift's cabin is inspired from the Baleno and Fronx. It appears better and more premium than the previous model. There is a large floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. It comes with new upholstery for seats, newly styled central air con vents, new controls for air conditioning and a new semi-digital instrument console with a 4.2-inch digital MID.
The new Swift is loaded with multiple new features such as wireless phone charger, rear air-con vents, cruise control, LED fog lamps, multi-functional steering wheel, push-button start/stop, a reverse camera and electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs.
The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift comes fitted with six airbags as standard. Adding to it, the hatchback also gets ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist and 3-point seat belts as standard.

The new Maruti Swift is available in 4 trim levels - LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ - in both manual and AMT options. The hatchback is available at a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Customers can also opt for the subscription model, which starts at Rs 17,436.
Powering the new Maruti Swift is an all-new 3-cylinder, 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine. This engine replaces the fun-to-drive 1.2L K-Series, 4-cylinder unit. The power and torque numbers drop to 80.4bhp and 111.7Nm, respectively.
The new Swift's engine is paired to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT unit. The manual version is claimed to offer an ARAI certified mileage of 24.8kmpl, while the AMT returns 25.75kmpl. This makes it the most fuel efficient petrol car in its league. In fact, it offers more mileage than the lighter Wagon R 1.0 and Alto K10.
Customers can tastefully modify the Swift hatchback with official accessories. The company is offering Thrill Chaser Package, which costs Rs 30,000. It offers cosmetic add-ons for the bonnet, bumpers, doors, and mirrors. Even for the interior, the company has offered interior bits for the door panels, seats, centre console, and dashboard. MSIL is also offering an Epic Edition accessory pack for the base LXi variant, which costs Rs 67,878.
