Maserati reveals its first-ever electric SUV called Grecale

Italian luxury automaker Maserati has finally unveiled its first fully electric SUV “The Grecale”. The announcement comes after Maserati gave the teaser of its new electric line up called Folgore Line comprising of 6 different models, with the commitment to go with electric vehicle line-up from 2025.

The new Maserati Grecale SUV goes by the tagline “the Everyday Exceptional” as it establishes a fair balance of luxury, performance and innovation along with off-roading capabilities of an SUV. The SUV is developed at Maserati’s Innovation Lab in Modena. When launched, the Grecale will take on the likes of Porsche Macan.

The Maserati Grecale will be available with three drivetrain options, namely the GT, Modena and Trofeo. The entry-level GT variant is powered by a 2.0 four cylinder mild hybrid motor delivering 296 bhp while the mid-Modena variant is propelled by the same engine with a highe state of tune at 330 bhp and 450 Nm of torque capable of hitting 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds. The top-spec “Trofeo” is equipped with a 3.0-litre based on Nettuno engine fitted to the MC20 putting out 530 bhp and 620 Nm of torque capable enough to do 0-100 kmph sprint in less than 4 seconds. Apart from this, the Grecale is also available in an exclusive PrimaSerie Launch Edition. To complete the range, Maserati also revealed the 100 percent electric version of the SUV, the Grecale Folgore which will be introduced in 2023 and will produce 800 Nm of torque as claimed by Maserati.

The Maserati Grecale measures 4,846 mm in length, 1,670 mm in height and 2,163 mm wide with a wheelbase of 2,901mm and its contour looks somewhat similar to its elder sibling the Levante. On the Design front, the Grecale espouses from Maserati’s new design language with a “low and imposing grill” from the MC20. The use of carbon fibre components is quite evident highlighting its technical components. The rear design is distinguished by boomerang-shaped tail lights that coincide with the trapezoidal line giving a very prominent coupe effect.

The interior of this upcoming SUV is characterized by a fresh layout with a large 12.3-inch center screen working as an infotainment unit including 8.8-inch for extra controls with a digital cockpit for the driver. It also gets Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) multimedia system and features like Maserati Connect, Sonus Faber 3D sound system as standard consisting of 14 speakers.

The performance and handling of the Grecale take a new leap with 100 percent Maserati Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM) and unique drive modes like COMFORT, GT, SPORT, CORSA (Trofeo only) and OFF-ROAD.
