BMW X7 Signature Edition Launched, Gets 16 Speakers, Unlock Via Smartphone

BMW India has officially launched a premium Signature edition of the X7 SUV at Rs 1.33 crore (ex-showroom). To be produced at the Bavarian giant’s Chennai plant, the model will be up for grabs for a limited run exclusively in the petrol xDrive40i iteration. Bookings can be made only on the BMW Online Shop.

The BMW X7 Signature Edition stands out with its striking design features, including Swarovski Crystal daytime running lights (DRLs) and an imposing front boasting a new kidney grille with chrome highlights. Individual paint options on offer are Tanzanite Blue and Dravit Grey.

Inside, the SUV gets a leather ‘Merino’ upholstery and a curved display integrated into the cockpit. The touchscreen and digital driver’s display measure 14.9-inch and 12.3-inch, respectively. It is also equipped with iDrive 8.5 OS that allows for interaction through touch, gesture and speech. A 16-speaker setup from Harman Kardon, ambient lighting with 14 colours, Sky Lounge panoramic sunroof, Alcantara cushions and crystal door pins are other notable features of the cabin. Buyers can also unlock the car using their smartphone by generating a digital key from the MY BMW app. 

Safety suite includes remote parking by smartphone, parking assistant professional with surround view camera and attentiveness assist. 

BMW X7 Signature Edition: Powertrain 

Performance-wise, the X7 xDrive40i is powered by a 3-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 381hp and 520Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100kmph in 5.8 seconds. The engine comes mated to a 48V electric motor that is good for 12hp and 200Nm. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed Steptronic unit. The SUV also comes equipped with BMW’s sDrive all-wheel-drive system and adaptive 2-axle air suspension. 

Rivals to the BMW X7 include Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes GLS.
