Hyundai India to Launch 2 New 7-Seater SUVs with Hybrid Engine

The Korean automaker, Hyundai is planning to launch multiple new SUVs, including the new-gen Venue, next Creta and others. Adding to it, the company will also launch two new 3-row SUVs in the country. Moreover, these two SUVs will come with hybrid powertrains.

Hyundai 7-Seater SUV

Internally codenamed Ni1i, the new 7-seater Hyundai SUV is reportedly to be introduced sometime in 2027. It will be positioned above the Alcazar in Hyundai India’s line-up and will rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. The new 3-row SUV will be manufactured at Hyundai’s Talegaon facility.

The new Hyundai SUV is likely to be based on the Tucson LWB platform. It is expected to be equipped with a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain that powers the Tucson in select international markets. The Korean brand is also working on a new hybrid powertrain based on the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

Hyundai Palisade

The Palisade will be Hyundai’s flagship ICE-powered model in India. It is expected to come as a CKD unit, and could also be exported to other markets. Estimated to cost above Rs 50 lakh, the new Hyundai Palisade will go on sale in India in 2028. It will rival the Toyota Fortuner, which will also receive a generation change in near future.

The SUV will be equipped with Hyundai’s new-gen hybrid powertrain, which is likely to be offered with a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol. This engine produces 334hp and 460Nm of torque, and is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 14.1kmpl. A 6-speed automatic gearbox driving the power to front-wheels will come as standard. The company could also offer an all-wheel drive system.
