Mahindra Scorpio N Pik-Up Confirmed for August 14 Reveal

Mahindra Global Pik-Up to reveal on August 14 It will come with a different cabin layout compared to the standard Scorpio-N

We reported earlier that the production-spec version of the Global Pik Up could be revealed this Independence Day. Now, the company has officially teased the pick-up truck ahead of its official global debut on August 14. For people not in the know, Mahindra had showcased the Global Pik Up Concept in South Africa in 2023. The fresh teaser gives us a closer look at the exterior and interiors of the production-version pick-up.

The Global Pik Up concept was developed for domestic as well as international markets. The company is aiming to expand its presence in international markets, and the new model will be positioned as a lifestyle pickup. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N Pickup is based on its new-generation ladder-frame platform that also underpins the standard Scorpio-N SUV.

The teaser images reveal a pickup that looks largely identical to the Scorpio-N. However, the biggest difference is the elongated body and a pick-up-styled rear. Up front is a traditional multi-slat broad grille with Mahindra’s twin-peak logo, and a vertically stacked LED headlamp setup with slim LED daytime running lights. The teaser also previews a much wider and muscular look than the Scorpio-N SUV.

The side profile teaser confirms that the pick-up will have a double-cab layout along with a long cargo bed. It has pronounced wheel arches, prominent roof rails and large alloy wheels. The pickup is expected to have a longer wheelbase compared to the Scorpio-N, which has a wheelbase of 2750mm.

At the back, the pickup truck has a vertically stacked C-shaped LED tail-lamps, a prominent tailgate with MAHINDRA lettering. There is a horizontal lighting element placed right below the rear glass, adding to its design.

The teaser also shows its cabin, which comes with an all-new dashboard layout. The interiors look completely different from the current Scorpio-N. It gets a new dashboard that houses a large, vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system. There are vertical air vents with metallic-like trim, which surrounds the new touchscreen infotainment unit.

The new pickup gets a digital instrument console and a three spoke multifunctional steering wheel that houses Mahindra’s twin-peak logo. The layered central console features a conventional gear selector (Automatic), rotary control and physical buttons for multiple functions.

Engine and Specifications

While the technical details are yet to be revealed, we expect the new Global Pik Up to share its powertrain options with the Scorpio N SUV.  The engine options could include the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It is likely to retain a four-wheel-drive system, which we have already seen on the Scorpio-N SUV.

The new Mahindra Global Pik Up will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross.
