Mahindra is one of the many teams taking part in the 2023 Formula E World Championship. With the fourth round of the championship currently being held this weekend at a street circuit in Hyderabad, the automaker has revealed a New Special Edition XUV400 on the sidelines of its Gen 3 Formula E car showcasing. We take a closer look at what the Mahindra XUV400 Formula E Edition has to offer.
The Formula E Edition of the recently launched Mahindra XUV400 gets a new special livery, developed as a joint effort between Mahindra Formula E and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe studio in the UK. The livery is a mix of red and copper shades plus there is Mahindra branding on the bonnet and to the sides. You can also see copper accents in the alloy wheels and ‘Mahindra Racing’ stickers on the C-pillar of the vehicle.
Mechanically, the Mahindra XUV400 Formula E Edition remains unchanged. Mahindra XUV400 is offered with two battery pack options, a 34.5 kWh unit and a 39.4 kWh pack, both powering a front-axle mounted electric motor. Their combined power output stands at 150 bhp with 310 Nm of peak torque. The EV offers a claimed range of 375 kms for the former and 456 kms for the latter on a single full charge.
To charge the electric vehicle, it takes 6 and a half hours when using a 7.2 kW wall box charger. In the case of a 3.3 kW charger, it takes 13 hours to charge. The SUV also supports a 50 kW fast charger that allows you to recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in a matter of an hour.
The Mahindra XUV400 is offered in two variants, EC which is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and the EL which will set you back by Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The electric SUV rivals the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and Max, Hyundai Kona Electric, and MG ZS EV.
