Tata Motors has delivered its strongest-ever quarterly performance in the passenger vehicle (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) space in Q3 FY26. Strong demand, tax benefits under GST 2.0, and popular model launches helped the brand clock impressive growth.
During the quarter, Tata Motors recorded combined PV and EV wholesales of 1.71 lakh units. This marked a solid 22 per cent year-on-year increase, making Q3 FY26 the company’s best quarter so far in terms of volumes.

Tata Motors’ PV and EV business reported revenues of Rs 15,300 crore in Q3 FY26, up 24 per cent compared to the same period last year. While higher fixed costs and commodity pressures impacted margins, the company managed to stay financially stable.
On a year-to-date basis, revenues touched Rs 39,700 crore, growing by 10.6 per cent. The domestic PV and EV business also generated positive free cash flow of Rs 300 crore during the quarter.
At the end of Q3 FY26, Tata Motors reported a healthy cash balance of Rs 8,900 crore against a gross debt of Rs 3,800 crore. This resulted in a net cash position of Rs 5,100 crore, giving the company strong financial flexibility for upcoming launches.
Tata Motors strengthened its position in the domestic passenger vehicle market. Its market share rose to 13.8 per cent in Q3 FY26, gaining 100 basis points quarter-on-quarter and securing the second spot overall.
In the EV segment, Tata continued its dominance with a market share of 43.6 per cent. This was supported by the highest-ever quarterly EV registrations for the brand.
Alternative powertrains played a key role in growth. EV penetration reached 14 per cent during the quarter, while CNG models accounted for 28 per cent of total volumes, highlighting strong customer interest in cleaner mobility options.
The quarter saw multiple product actions from Tata Motors. The all-new Tata Sierra was launched and received over 70,000 confirmed bookings on day one, with a waiting period of up to four months.
The Harrier and Safari range was expanded with new petrol variants powered by the 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo GDi engine. Tata also introduced the refreshed Punch with design and feature updates.
In addition, the brand re-entered the fleet segment with petrol and twin-cylinder CNG versions of the Xpres, based on the Tigor compact sedan.
Tata Motors achieved a major milestone as cumulative EV sales crossed 2.5 lakh units during the quarter. The company also recorded its highest-ever quarterly wholesales and retail sales in Q3 FY26.
The Tata Nexon emerged as the highest-selling car in the country during the quarter, while Punch volumes also showed strong improvement.
Looking ahead, Tata Motors expects momentum to build further with several key launches lined up. Models such as the facelifted Punch EV, Sierra EV, and the Avinya concept-based EV are expected to play a major role in driving future growth.
