Kia's Biggest India Plan Yet - Hybrid, EV and CNG Cars Coming

Kia plans to launch hybrid, EV and CNG models in India. Seltos Hybrid and Sorento Hybrid are among the key upcoming launches. Eight electrified Kia models are expected by 2030.

Kia is getting ready for one of its biggest product expansions in India. Instead of focusing on just one type of powertrain, the company is preparing a mix of hybrid, electric and factory-fitted CNG models over the next few years.

The goal is simple. Kia wants to give customers more options based on how and where they drive. While EVs are becoming more popular, hybrids and CNG cars continue to attract buyers looking for better fuel efficiency and lower running costs.

Hybrid Models Will Play a Big Role

Strong hybrid vehicles are expected to become an important part of Kia's future lineup in India. The upcoming Sorento will be the brand's first strong-hybrid SUV for the country and is expected to arrive during the festive season. Bookings have already opened ahead of its launch.

Kia is also working on a strong-hybrid version of the Seltos. The SUV has been one of the company's strongest sellers, and adding a hybrid option could help it compete with models like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

More Electric Vehicles on the Way

Kia has been steadily growing its EV lineup in India. The company already sells models like the EV6, EV9, Carens Clavis EV and the recently launched Syros EV.

An electric version of the Seltos is also being studied. While Kia has not confirmed its launch, the company is exploring the possibility as demand for electric SUVs continues to grow. If launched, the Seltos could eventually be available with petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains.

Factory-Fitted CNG Cars Also Planned

Kia is not stopping with hybrids and EVs. The company has also confirmed that factory-fitted CNG models are under development.

At present, Kia offers dealer-installed CNG kits for the Carens, but future models are expected to get factory-built CNG systems. The company is also looking at introducing CNG options across different models instead of limiting them to a single segment. Factory-fitted CNG cars are expected to offer lower running costs while giving buyers a solution backed by the manufacturer.

Eight Electrified Models by 2030

Kia has already shared its long-term plans for the Indian market. The company aims to launch 10 new models by the end of this decade, with eight of them featuring some form of electrification.

These will include both strong hybrids and fully electric vehicles. Kia expects electrified models to account for around 43 percent of its total sales in India by 2030. The company is also targeting annual domestic sales of 4.10 lakh units, supported by a wider range of products across different segments.
