Mahindra Vision S Looks Like a Mini Scorpio in New Spy Shots

Mahindra Vision S has been spotted testing once again. The compact SUV gets a rugged, Scorpio-inspired design. Official debut is expected on August 15.

Mahindra is getting ready to unveil the Vision S on August 15, and the SUV has now been spotted testing once again. The latest spy shots reveal a production-ready model that carries a bold and upright design, giving it the look of a smaller version of the Scorpio.

Although the test vehicle remains heavily camouflaged, several styling details are now clearly visible, offering a better idea of what buyers can expect when the SUV makes its official debut.

Rugged Design Inspired by Larger SUVs

The first thing that stands out is the Vision S's strong SUV stance. Unlike many compact SUVs that feature a more crossover-like design, the Vision S has a tall bonnet, upright windscreen and squared-off body panels. These proportions make it look more like a scaled-down Scorpio than a typical sub-four-metre SUV.

At the front, the SUV is expected to feature Mahindra's latest design language with a wide grille and vertically positioned lighting elements. While the production version may be less dramatic than the original Vision S concept, it appears to retain its muscular character.

Tailgate-Mounted Spare Wheel Adds to the SUV Look

The rear design further strengthens the Scorpio-like appearance. One of the biggest highlights seen in the latest spy shots is the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a feature that has become increasingly rare in compact SUVs. Combined with the upright tailgate and almost flat rear windscreen, it gives the Vision S a rugged and practical look. These design elements are expected to help the SUV stand out against rivals that mostly follow a softer crossover design.

New Platform With Multiple Powertrain Options

The Vision S will be one of the first Mahindra models based on the company's NU_IQ modular platform. This new architecture has been designed to support petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains, along with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. While Mahindra has not yet confirmed the engine options, recent sightings suggest that an internal combustion engine (ICE) version will be introduced first.

Expected to Sit Above the XUV 3XO

Mahindra is expected to position the Vision S between the XUV 3XO and the Scorpio N in its SUV lineup. Even though the SUV is likely to stay under four metres in length, it is expected to have a 2,665 mm wheelbase, which should translate into a spacious cabin for passengers. Once launched, the Vision S will compete with popular compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon.

Official Debut Just Around the Corner

Mahindra has already confirmed that it will showcase several new products during its annual Independence Day event on August 15, with the Vision S expected to be one of the biggest attractions. The SUV is also likely to preview Mahindra's future product strategy, as the company has announced that its next generation of NU_IQ-based SUVs will start arriving from 2027.
