Tata Avinya X launching in early 2027 Testing begins, global debut likely at Auto Expo Based on JLR's EMA architecture

We reported earlier that Tata Motors will launch the first electric model under the AVINYA nameplate in India in 2027. The first model will be a pure electric SUV based on the AVINYA X concept that debuted at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.  Ahead of the official launch, the fully camouflaged prototypes of the new Tata Avinya X were caught on camera. The latest spy images reveals the overall silhouette and design direction of the upcoming premium electric SUV. 


Tata Avinya X - what to expect?


The spotted model was heavily covered in thick cloth, featuring a temporary registration plate. While the styling elements hides under the cover, the overall silhouette reveals some of the design details. Up front is a clean, closed-off front fascia, and vertically stacked lighting elements placed towards the corners of the bumper. The silhouette confirms that it is the production version of the Avinya X concept. 


Tata Avinya X Side Spied


The side profile reveals that the Tata Avinya EV will have a long wheelbase, short front overhang and a sloping roofline. Instead of camera-based units for ORVMs, the SUV gets the conventional doors mounted wing mirrors. The spotted model rides on large aerodynamic alloy wheels, while the long rear doors indicating towards a spacious cabin. At the back, the Avinya X gets wraparound tail-lamps, and a roof-mounted spoiler. 


Tata Motors has officially announced that the products under Avinya nameplate will be based on JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture. The homegrown automaker will be paying a royalty fee to JLR for using the platform; however, the architecture will be heavily localised to achieve competitive pricing. 


While the interior pictures are yet to be revealed, but the earlier sketches reveal that the SUV will have a modern and feature-loaded cabin. The concept had a 3-screen display on the dashboard along with a massive fourth screen, which is free-standing and placed lower. The same setup could be offered with the production model. The concept had two-spoke steering wheel, V2L and V2V functionality, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, wireless phone charging and multi-zone climate control.
