New Tata Avinya X to Get Dual-Motor AWD and Over 500km Range

Tata Avinya X could offer over 500km of range. The electric SUV is expected to get dual-motor AWD. It will use JLR’s EMA platform with 800V technology.

Tata Motors is preparing to enter the premium electric SUV space with the new Avinya X. Positioned as the brand’s halo EV, the SUV is expected to arrive in India in 2027 and will sit at the top of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle range.

The Avinya X is expected to focus on performance, long-distance range and premium technology. It is likely to get a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup and could offer more than 500km of driving range on a single charge.

Based on JLR’s EMA Platform

The Tata Avinya X is expected to be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). The platform supports structural battery integration and an 800V electrical architecture, allowing Tata to offer faster charging capabilities. The SUV will use a flat-floor skateboard layout, which should also help Tata make better use of the cabin space.

Dual-Motor AWD Setup

One of the key highlights of the Avinya X will be its expected dual-motor AWD setup. With an electric motor powering each axle, the SUV should offer improved traction and stronger performance compared with a single-motor setup. Tata is also targeting a driving range of over 500km on a single charge. The final battery capacity and performance figures are yet to be revealed.

Minimalist Premium Cabin

Inside, the Avinya X is expected to feature a minimalist cabin with a strong focus on technology and comfort. The SUV could get a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display and an AR-HUD. Other expected features include lounge-style seats, a premium sound system and speakers integrated into the headrests. The SUV is also expected to offer Level 2+ autonomous driving capabilities.

Tata’s New Luxury EV

The Avinya X will sit well above Tata Motors’ existing electric SUVs and is expected to target the premium luxury EV space. Its combination of dual-motor AWD, more than 500km of range, 800V charging technology and a premium cabin will mark a significant step up for the brand. Tata Motors is expected to reveal more details about the Avinya X closer to its planned 2027 launch.
