3 New Tata Sierra SUVs Coming Soon – EV, CNG & AWD

Tata Sierra lineup expanding with EV, CNG and AWD versions by 2027. Sierra EV launching on June 30, ICE-powered AWD variant coming in 2027.

Tata Motors has announced plans to expand its portfolio with 30 new products by 2030. The lineup will include facelifts and full generational upgrades of existing models along with the introduction of seven all-new nameplates. While the iconic Sierra nameplate has already been revived, the Tata Avinya premium EV sub-brand will debut in late 2026. Since its market arrival, the Tata Sierra has been witnessing decent demand in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment.

The carmaker now aims to further expand the Sierra SUV lineup with its three new derivatives – Sierra EV, Sierra CNG and Sierra AWD. The Sierra EV is slated to launch on June 30, while the Sierra i-CNG version was recently spotted with an emission testing kit, hinting at its expected debut during the 2026 Diwali season. The ICE-powered Sierra AWD is reported to arrive sometime next year.

Tata Sierra EV Debut Date

The Tata Sierra EV is likely to share its powertrain with the Harrier EV, which is available with 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options. The latest official teaser has confirmed that the electric SUV will be available with QWD (Quad Wheel Drive), similar to the Harrier EV. Tata’s QWD system consists of two motors mounted on each axle, and is claimed to deliver instant torque and “next-gen terrain adaptability”.

The Sierra CNG version could be offered with either a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with Tata’s dual-cylinder CNG technology. Similar to Tata’s other i-CNG models, the SUV could get a spare wheel. The Tata Sierra currently has average monthly sales of 6,000 – 9,000, and volumes are likely to be increase further with the introduction of the CNG version.

Tata Motors has confirmed that the ICE-powered Sierra will receive an AWD system in early 2027. The SUV underpins ARGOS (All-terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable Architecture), which supports multiple body styles, vehicle lengths and powertrains. Following the discontinuation of the Tata Hexa in 2020, the Sierra will become Tata Motors’ first ICE-powered 4X4 offering in India.
