MG Majestor Climbs Mount Japfü Ahead of India Reveal

MG Motor India has confirmed that the MG Majestor will be officially unveiled in India on February 12, 2026. Ahead of its much-awaited debut, the brand’s upcoming flagship SUV has already made headlines by successfully conquering Mount Japfü, the second-highest peak in Nagaland.

The achievement makes the MG Majestor the first D+ segment SUV in India to complete such an extreme real-world off-road challenge.

Mount Japfü Puts MG Majestor to the Ultimate Test

Located near Kohima in the Barail Range, Mount Japfü is known for steep inclines, rocky trails, narrow forest paths and constantly changing surfaces. It is considered one of the toughest off-road routes in the country.

As part of MG’s advanced testing programme, the Majestor climbed these challenging trails, testing its traction systems, stability and overall off-road capability in real conditions.

Built for Real-World Off-Road Conditions

During the climb, the MG Majestor handled sharp gradients, loose surfaces and uneven terrain with confidence. The drive allowed MG’s engineering team to closely monitor how the SUV performs outside controlled environments.

MG says the successful ascent highlights the strength of the Majestor’s engineering and its terrain-focused systems designed for extreme driving situations.

MG Says Majestor Defines a New D+ Segment

Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said the Mount Japfü climb shows what the MG Majestor is capable of. He added that the SUV has been developed to handle real-world conditions and will help create a new D+ segment for large, capable SUVs in India.

According to MG, the Majestor aims to go beyond the regular D-SUV space with its size, capability and off-road focus.

Local Expertise Played a Key Role

The expedition was supported by the Kohima Adventure Motorsports Club (KAMC), whose experience with the region’s tough terrain helped ensure a successful climb.

KAMC President Seyievilie Metha said Mount Japfü is a demanding route that pushes both the vehicle and the driver. He noted that the MG Majestor maintained control and stability throughout the ascent, reflecting strong engineering and off-road capability.

MG Majestor Positioned as India’s First D+ SUV

With its longest, widest and tallest dimensions in the segment, the MG Majestor is set to redefine expectations from large SUVs in India. The successful climb of Mount Japfü further strengthens its positioning as a serious off-road machine ahead of its official reveal next month.
