MG Hector Hawk launching on August 26, 2026 Both EV and PHEV will be introduced It will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Mahindra XEV 9S
JSW MG Motor India has recently revealed its new ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform) - the brand’s modular multi-New Energy Vehicle (NEV) platform. This architecture supports BEV, Hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and Range Extender EVs. The first model to be based on this platform will be introduced this month, and is rumoured to be called the MG Hector Hawk. The new SUV will be offered with both battery-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
JSW MG Motor India will launch the new Hector Hawk on August 26, 2026. Sales for the new model is expected to begin in September-October, before Diwali 2026. It will be positioned above the Hector SUV in JSW MG Motor India’s line-up.
The MG Hector Hawk EV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 22 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV will be positioned against the Mahindra XEV 9S. On the flip side, the plug-in hybrid model will attract higher GST, and is expected to be priced around Rs 25 lakh - 35 lakh. The Hector Hawk PHEV will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, which will also receive a hybrid powertrain in 2027.

The Hector Hawk is based on the global-spec Wuling Starlight 560. The SUV is expected to be offered with 6 and 7-seats configurations and measure longer than the XUV 7XO. The global-spec model measures 4745mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1755mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2810mm. It is around 50mm longer than the Mahindra XUV 7XO, along with a longer wheelbase.
The new MG Hector Hawk will look largely identical to the Starlight 560, featuring rectangular-shaped LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps at the top, wraparound LED tail-laps, and a roof-mounted spoiler. The EV version will have a blanked-off grille and a charging port on the left rear fender.

Inside the cabin, the SUV gets a clean and clutter-free dashboard, featuring an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the SUV will have a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation functions, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, and others.
In terms of safety and security, the new Hector Hawk will gets six airbags, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree surround view camera, and others. The SUV will get LEVEL 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and others.
The Hector Hawk PHEV powertrain will feature a 1.5L petrol engine, an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. It offers a combined power and torque output of 194bhp and 230Nm, respectively. The SUV offers a pure electric range of 125km and a total range of 1100km (including the 52-litre fuel tank), as per the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
The electric version is likely to be packed with a 69.2 kWh battery pack mated to a front-axle-mounted electric motor, which offers 201hp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a range of 530km (CLTC) on a single charge.
