MG Hector Hawk EV to launch before Plug-in hybrid vehicle India debut on August 26, 2026
JSW MG Motor India has officially released the first teaser of the upcoming New Energy Vehicle (NEV), which is scheduled to make its debut on August 26, 2026. The teaser reveals that the company will first introduce the electric version of the SUV, rumoured to be called the MG Hector Hawk. The new model is expected to be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 on sale in the Chinese market.
The MG Hector Hawk will be the brand’s first production model to be based on its all-new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform), which is compatible with multiple powertrains including electric, strong hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range extender hybrid.

The official teaser previews the overall silhouette of the Hector Hawk. Also visible is a sealed-off front grille and an illuminated MG logo at the front, which suggests that the SUV is an electric model. Similar to the Chinese-spec Starlight 560, the Hector Hawk EV will have an angular front design with closed-off front, rectangular-shaped LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a sporty bumper with thick cladding at the lower section and a faux skid plate.
The SUV is expected to get dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, flared wheel arches with thick cladding, LED tail-lights and a simpler tailgate design. In terms of proportions, the Hector Hawk will measure around 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,810mm.
In the global markets, the Starlight 560 is available in both 5 and 7-seat configuration. The India-spec model is expected to get a 7-seat layout with bench-type seats in second and third-row. It is expected to get a 12.8-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround view camera, automatic AC and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
The Hector Hawk EV could get a 69.2 kWh battery pack paired with a front-axle-mounted electric motor, offering 136bhp. It is claimed to offer an electric range of 530km on a single charge.
The Plug-in Hybrid electric vehicle is likely to get a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine mated with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 194 bhp and 230 N of torque. Thanks to a 20.5 kWh battery pack, the MG Hector Hawk can be charged using a standard home wall charger. It is claimed to offer up to 125 km of pure electric range without using a single drop of petrol. Paired with a full tank of petrol, the SUV delivers a total driving range of over 1,000 km.
