MG Hector Hawk launches in India on August 26, 2026. It is expected with PHEV and EV powertrain options. The SUV is based on the Wuling Starlight 560.
JSW MG Motor India is set to launch the MG Hector Hawk in India on August 26, 2026. Based on the Wuling Starlight 560, the upcoming SUV is expected to be offered with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric powertrains.
Unlike the existing Hector, the Hawk has been developed around electrified powertrains and will be based on MG’s new ADAPT architecture.
The global Starlight 560 measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height, with a 2,810mm wheelbase. This is 60mm longer than the current Hector’s wheelbase. The global SUV is available in five- and seven-seat layouts. However, the India-spec seating configuration is yet to be confirmed.

The plug-in hybrid version could be the biggest highlight. The global model uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine, electric motor and 20.5kWh battery. It produces around 194bhp and 230Nm, with a claimed electric-only range of around 100km under the CLTC cycle. Its claimed overall range is around 1,100km. India-specific specifications are yet to be announced.
The global Starlight 560 EV gets a 56.7kWh battery and a front-mounted electric motor producing around 136bhp and 200Nm. It has a claimed range of up to 500km under the CLTC cycle. MG is yet to reveal the final battery and range figures for the Indian version.
The Hector Hawk is expected to get a technology-focused cabin with features such as a large touchscreen, digital driver's display, panoramic sunroof, connected-car technology, 360-degree camera, ADAS, wireless charging and powered front seats. The final India-spec feature list will be revealed closer to launch.
The Hector Hawk PHEV is expected to have limited direct competition in India. It could instead attract buyers considering SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. The EV version could compete with models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S.
