MG Hector Hawk is expected to launch in India this August. It will compete with the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO. Buyers will get both EV and plug-in hybrid options.
MG is set to expand its SUV lineup in India with the launch of the Hector Hawk this August. The new model will be offered with fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, making it one of the few SUVs in its segment to offer two electrified options.
Based on the Wuling Starlight 560, the upcoming SUV has already been seen testing on Indian roads several times. It will be built on MG's new ADAPT platform and is expected to become the brand's new flagship SUV.
The MG Hector Hawk will be positioned in the premium three-row SUV space. It is expected to compete with popular models like the Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV 7XO. Within MG's own range, the plug-in hybrid version is likely to sit above the current Hector, while the electric version will become the company's top electric SUV in India.

Even though the test vehicles are still covered in camouflage, a few design details are already visible. The front gets LED headlamps with a unique daytime running light design. The electric version is expected to have a closed front grille, while the side profile looks clean with simple body lines and alloy wheels. A charging port is placed on the left rear side. At the back, the SUV gets LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler and a rear wiper.
The interior has not been officially revealed yet, but it is expected to be similar to the global model. The dashboard could feature an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV is also expected to come with three rows of seats, making it suitable for larger families.
Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a 50W wireless charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents and a six-speaker sound system. Safety features are likely to include six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic parking brake, hill-hold assist, a rear parking camera and ADAS.
MG is expected to offer the Hector Hawk with both EV and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The plug-in hybrid version could use a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery pack. It is expected to deliver 195 hp and 230 Nm, while offering an electric-only driving range of up to 125 km. The electric version is likely to come with a 69.2 kWh battery pack and a 201 hp electric motor. MG claims a driving range of up to 530 km on a full charge.
MG is expected to launch the Hector Hawk in India this August. The SUV will bring together a spacious cabin, modern features and two electrified powertrain choices in one package. With strong rivals like the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO already in the market, the Hector Hawk will have plenty of competition.
