MG Hector Hawk is expected to launch in August 2026. The SUV will be available in EV and PHEV versions. The EV model could offer a claimed range of up to 530 km.
MG is getting ready to launch a new premium SUV in India this August. Expected to be called the MG Hector Hawk, the SUV will be available with both electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
The upcoming model is based on the Wuling Starlight 560 and will use MG's new ADAPT platform. It has already been spotted testing on Indian roads a few times, giving us a closer look at what to expect before its official launch.
The MG Hector Hawk will enter the premium three-row SUV segment. Once launched, it is expected to compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and the upcoming Mahindra XEV 9S. In MG's own lineup, the plug-in hybrid version is likely to sit above the Hector, while the electric version will be positioned above the ZS EV.

The test vehicle was covered in camouflage, but a few styling details could still be seen. It gets rectangular LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights placed above and below them. The closed front grille suggests that the test model was the electric version.
From the side, the SUV gets a clean design with a charging port on the left rear fender and alloy wheels. At the back, it features wraparound LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler and a rear wiper.
MG has not shown the cabin yet, but it is expected to be similar to the model sold overseas. The SUV could get an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is also expected to come with a seven-seat layout and leatherette seats.
Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a 50W wireless phone charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents and a six-speaker audio system.
For safety, the Hector Hawk is likely to offer six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, an electronic parking brake, a rear parking camera with sensors and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The MG Hector Hawk is expected to be offered with two powertrain choices. The plug-in hybrid version could use a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery pack. It is expected to produce 195 hp and 230 Nm, along with an electric-only driving range of up to 125 km. The electric version is likely to get a 69.2 kWh battery pack with a 201 hp front-mounted motor. It is expected to deliver a CLTC-claimed driving range of up to 530 km on a full charge.
