JSW MG Motor India has unveiled its all-new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform, which supports strong hybrid, plug-in hybrid, range-extender hybrid and electric powertrains. The brand’s first production models based on the ADAPT architecture are set to launch in August, 2026. New MG Electric SUV INdia

The new MG electric SUV is expected to share their powertrains with the China-spec Starlight 560. It’s likely to be equipped with a 69kWh battery pack and a 210bhp paired with a single electric motor, returning a claimed range of 600km on a single charge.

When launched, the new MG electric SUV will be positioned against the Mahindra XEV 9S which comes with three battery pack options – 59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh. The 59kWh version offers a claimed range of 521km, while the larger 70kWh and 79kWh battery pack variants offer claimed ranges of 600km and 679km, respectively.

The Starlight 560 does 0 to 100kmph sprints in 13 seconds and has a top speed of 160kmph. Using a DC fast charger, it can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes, while a full charge via an AC charger takes nearly 9.2 hours.

Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain

The Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV (plug-in hybrid vehicle) version features a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine mated with an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a combined power of 197bhp and 230Nm of torque. The SUV promises a claimed electric-only range of 100km and a combined range of up to 1,100km.

Key Features, Dimensions & Seating Capacity

In terms of features, the new MG electric and plug-in hybrid SUVs are expected to offer Level 2 ADAS, a large 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker audio system, an 8.8-inch digital driver display, automatic climate control, all LED lighting, and many more.

Similar to the Starlight 560, the new MG SUV is expected to mirror the Starlight 560, measuring 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and up to 1,770mm in height. Its wheelbase will be around 2,810mm. The carmaker might offer the SUV with a 2+3+2 seating layout, comprising two individual seats in the first row, a bench seat in the middle row and two individual seats in the third row.
