Ford to unveil the seventh-gen Mustang on 14th September; Will get the six-speed manual transmission along with the 5.0-litre V8 engine.
The next generation of the legendary American muscle car, the Mustang is all-set to debut on the 14th of September 2022 at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. The new gen model will continue to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and Jim Farley, CEO of Ford confirmed the news when he used the hashtag ‘SaveTheManuals’ for his announcement.
On the outside, the Mustang’s design changes will be limited to some subtle cosmetic updates as Ford has made its intention clear to carry forward the iconic muscle car styling. Internally codenamed S650, the car will sport a familiar headlight design with tri-bar LEDs, a more pronounced air intake and a dual barrel exhaust tips at the rear as seen in the spy shots.

The next-gen Mustang is expected to sit on a new and improved platform; however, there is no confirmation on this from the company. In terms of powertrain, it will be powered by the popular 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder petrol engine along with a more-powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine. In its current iteration, the former churns out 310 bhp while the latter produces a colossal 460 bhp.

Some media houses have also reported the presence of a hybrid powertrain option on the new-gen model. This set-up will feature an EcoBoost engine driving the rear wheels, while an electric motor will drive the front wheels giving the four-wheeler AWD capabilities.

Although Ford has exited India, the American brand remains committed to bring its premium offerings to the Indian market via the CBU route. We can expect the Next-Gen Ford Mustang to come to the country by late 2023.
