Skoda Auto’s ‘Explore More’ global event showcases new brand identity; VISION 7S concept showcases the future design direction of the company; Big push for EVs

Bringing its NEXT LEVEL- Skoda strategy 2030 to the foreground, Skoda Auto today conducted its Explore More global event to showcase the brands new avatar. Adapting to the digital era, the company showcased is new digital logo and a new concept car. In addition, the company also committed to big push for e-mobility and digitisation with EUR 5.6 billion and EUR 700 million investment respectively over the next five years.

Gone are the days of sculptural 3D graphics and in comes new digital identity. Finished in two different green hues – Emerald and Electric Green, the communication medium represents ecology, sustainability and electromobility. The new logo uses entirely different typography based on symmetry and a combination of round shapes with borders. The new identity has neatly integrates the caron above the S (há?ek) neatly into the first letter of the brand name. In addition the winged arrow symbol also has gone through a transformation with a simplified design. The new logo has been rendered without the plastic 3D graphics.

With the new digital era comes a new digital design language. Combining robustness, functionality and authenticity, the VISION 7S is the first Skoda car with a matt body colour. Characterised by the Tech-Deck face, the front of the car incorporates familiar design elements like the signature Skoda line. The wordmark logo replaces the brand’s picture mark and is complemented by a new ambient light strip which extends the width of the vehicle and features illuminated graphics. Towards the sides we see aerodynamic lines along with squared-off wheel arches and the 22-inch aero wheels. The flat roofline gently slopes to the rear and merges with a pronounced roof spoiler for high aerodynamic efficiency.

Moving to the inside, the long passenger cabin gives the impression of space, while the two interior configuration: Driving and Relaxing stimulate the feeling of safety and security. The car comes equipped with a rotating central touchscreen and sliding elements to create a perfect ambience for its occupants. All the controls are in their ideal position and easy reach for the driver while the central 14.6-inch touchscreen is oriented vertically for enhanced accessibility and information stacking.
Keeping with the theme of environmental friendliness, the company has used a mix of sustainable and durable materials for the interior. The upper part of the dashboard is finished in dark artificial leather while the lower part and the door armrest are completed in lighter artificial leather that echoes the exterior colour Explorer Green. The wrap-around ambient lighting accentuate the open and airy feeling inside the cabin.

So with the project set to hit production by 2026, Skoda has started a concept study with the prototype fitting it with a 89 kWh battery-pack which is capable of taking up to 200 kW charging. The company has claimed a WLTP range of 600 kilometres but real world performance needs to be tested at launch.
Until then, let us know how you like this new Skoda logo and if the new direction of the brand excites you.
