Tata Punch With 6 Airbags Spied Undergoing Crash Testing

Tata Punch has been a beacon of safety and affordability ever since its launch in October 2021. Now just as India’s premier testing agency, Bharat NCAP takes the baton from GNCAP, we have news of a new Tata Punch that is expected to offer more safety tech.

Tata Punch To Offer 6 Airbags

Recently, the website for Bharat NCAP went live with images of some of the cars selected for crash testing. Among them, one car that stood out was the Tata Punch which offer both curtain and side airbag along with the standard front two airbags seen on the current model. This suggests that an updated Tata Punch is in the works and could be launched with 6-airbags soon. The company just updated the model with a new fully digital instrument cluster that displays critical vehicle-related information.

Previously, as part of its old testing protocol, Global NCAP rated the Punch with a full 5-star rating. But Bharat NCAP tests a car for 5 key parameters: frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, electronic stability control and pedestrian-compliant front design and it will be interesting to see if the additional airbags will help the model fare better at crash protection.

While a set launch date for the new Tata Punch with 6 airbags is currently unknown, we expect it to go on sale during January 2024, when the company has also announced to hike in its prices.
