Land Rover has given us a sneak peek of its upcoming Range Rover EV ahead of its expected debut in 2024. It is the first all-electric model from the British brand that has famed itself for powerful diesel engines. The company has asked its customers who are interested to sign up on a list. This way, they can avoid making customers wait for a long time and give those on the list a chance to book the vehicle first.
The teaser has given a sneak peek of the new EV which looks almost the same as its ICE-powered sibling. However, there are some special features such as a different front grille and EV badge on the hub caps. Plus, instead of a fuel filler, there is now a charging port and the cover for it opens automatically.
The new Range Rover EV is built on a flexible platform called Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA). It uses an 800 V system for fast charging. Although there are no technical details yet, different battery sizes and power options can be provided. As for the performance, the model should perform similarly to the powerful Range Rover V8, going from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds.
In addition, Range Rover SUVs are well-known for their off-road capabilities, and the electric version is expected to continue this tradition. It will have various features, both in its software and hardware, to handle different situations. Land Rover mentions it can even drive through water that is 850 mm deep, which is quite impressive for an electric vehicle.
The flagship Range Rover EV is supposed to come out in 2024. Since a lot of people already like the regular version, we think Land Rover will quickly bring the electric one here too. It will compete with cars like the Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW iX, and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
