VinFast’s Biggest EV Could Be Coming to India

VinFast’s biggest EV could come to India VF 9 gets three rows and a 123kWh battery Offers 626km range, 402bhp and Level 2 ADAS

VinFast could add a much larger electric SUV to its India lineup in the future. The Vietnamese carmaker has now taken steps related to the VF 9 in India, months after doing the same for the VF 8.

The VF 9 is currently the biggest model in VinFast’s lineup. It is a five-metre electric SUV with three rows of seats and could become the brand’s most premium offering in India if launched here. VinFast currently sells the VF 6, VF 7 and VF MPV 7 in India.

Five-Metre Electric SUV

The VF 9 follows VinFast’s familiar design, but its large size gives it a more premium road presence. It has a three-row cabin and sits lower than some other large SUVs. The SUV gets 184mm of ground clearance in its unladen condition. It also comes with full-LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof and large alloy wheels.

Large and Feature-Rich Cabin

Inside, the VF 9 gets a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with vegan leather seats and ambient lighting. There is also an Alexa-powered voice assistant. The centre console gets buttons for selecting different drive modes, while the dashboard does not have a traditional instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. The three-row layout is likely to be one of the main attractions of the VF 9 if VinFast brings it to India.

402bhp Dual-Motor Setup

The VF 9 uses two electric motors, giving it all-wheel drive. The setup produces 402bhp and 620Nm of torque. It gets a large 123kWh battery pack, which has a claimed range of up to 626km. This would make the VF 9 one of the more long-range electric SUVs if introduced in India.

For AC charging, the SUV supports 6.6kW single-phase and 11kW three-phase charging. With a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 70 per cent in around 35 minutes.

ADAS and Safety Features

The VF 9 also gets a wide range of safety features. These include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and 11 airbags. The SUV is designed as a premium family EV, combining three rows of seats with a large battery and all-wheel drive.

India Launch Still Not Confirmed

While VinFast has taken steps related to the VF 9 in India, the company has not officially confirmed a launch date for the electric SUV. If introduced, the VF 9 would sit above the VF 6, VF 7 and VF MPV 7 in VinFast’s India range.
