Advanced Driver’s Assistance Systems (ADAS) is an increasingly popular safety feature in cars. From sub-compact SUVs to luxury sedans, car manufacturers are either updating their lineup or launching new ones with ADAS on board. In one of our recent blogs, we discussed various ADAS levels and their features. In this blog, we present to you segment-best 10 cars that are high on safety:

Mahindra’s latest offering, the XUV 3XO comes equipped with a 360-degree surround-view system with a blind-view monitor and auto-dimming IRVM. The Level-2 ADAS comes with features such as a front parking assist and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. Six airbags, ESC with hill hold control and all four disc brakes are available as standard across trims.

The South Korean siblings boast Level 2 ADAS with features such as forward collision, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keeping assist and lane departure assist. Six airbags have been made standard right from the base variant. Other crucial safety features like ABS, EBD, ESC, rear parking camera and sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system also come with the SUV Hyundai Creta/ Kia Seltos.

Tata Nexon was the first Indian car to receive a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant protection in 2018 and it continues to live on that philosophy to date. The facelift has also been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Global NCAP, which is a great achievement. With six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX mounts and a 360-degree camera, Tata has been leading the safety front with flying colours.
Out of the 20 on board, some features of the safety suite include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The Curvv EV also offers six airbags as standard, an Electronic Stability Programme, an electronic parking brake and all-wheel disc brakes. The Curvv EV Empowered + variant stands out as the most popular.

The Tata Harrier is one of the first cars to get a five-star rating in the Bharat National Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). Some of the top safety features of Harrier Facelift include up to 7 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Control and much more. Furthermore, the top variants of the SUV also get Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Front Collision Warning, making it one of the safest SUVs in the country.

The safety factor has always been at the forefront of the SUV. Besides the XUV700 scoring five stars in the Global National Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP), the XUV700 gets Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as well. Other safety bits include ABS, EBD and seven airbags. With the addition of these features, every drive on the road feels planted.

Mahindra Thar Roxx safety kit highlight has to be Level 2 advanced driver’s assistance systems (ADAS). For the first time, six airbags as standard have been offered on the Thar. It also boasts ESP, ABS with EBD, traction control system, hill hold and hill descent control, rear parking sensors and three-point seatbelts for all seats as standard. Other notable safety features include a tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors, a reverse camera and auto-dimming IRVM.

The fifth generation of the Honda City scored a five-star rating in ASEAN NCAP crash tests. Alongside the standard six airbags, the sedan is also available with three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts and seatbelt reminders for all 5 seats across all trim levels. Its Honda Sensing Level 2 ADAS comes with adaptive cruise control (with stop and go), forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist.

In terms of safety, the Volvo XC40 Recharge boasts a five-star EURO NCAP safety rating. The Volvo C40 Recharge comes equipped with up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and TPMS among others. In addition to the above-mentioned equipment, the car is also provided with a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and a whole suite of ADAS functions, including collision avoidance and mitigation by braking and steering, forward collision warning lane keeping aid, run-off road mitigation and cruise control.

The Kia EV6 blends aerodynamic design, features and performance. In terms of safety, the EV6 provides 8-airbags, all-wheel disc brake, ESC, Hill-start Assist Control, ABS with EBD and front and rear parking sensors as basic equipment. In addition to these, the SUV also comes with more than 10 ADAS functionalities that include Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop And Go Functionality and more.
