As the new financial year arrives, a set of new car launches are lined up for April 2023. The Indian automobile market is going to witness some of the most anticipated cars and SUV introductions this month. These include Maruti Suzuki’s FRONX which is based on the Baleno hatchback and an all-electric car named Comet EV from MG Motor India. Premium car brands like Lamborghini and Mercedes-Benz are also coming with their powerful car models. Moreover, Lexus RX and Innova Crysta were expected to be launched last month but both vehicles will be launching this month only.

A compact crossover SUV, the Maruti Suzuki FRONX is the most anticipated car of this year. The model was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2023 and since its unveiling, the SUV has accumulated up to 15,500 bookings till now. Based on the Baleno hatchback, the FRONX will be offered with two petrol engines; a 1.0-litre turbo petrol (97 bhp/148 Nm) and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit (87 bhp/113 Nm). Maruti is likely to launch the FRONX SUV in the country by mid-April 2023. The price announcement will also be made during its launch, however, the expected price could hover around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Motor India is soon to launch its new electric car, the Comet this month. The electric hatchback is the renamed version of the Air EV and is the second all-electric car from the company after the ZS EV. The electric vehicle is expected to come equipped with a 25 kWh battery pack and a 38 bhp electric motor that will send power to the front wheels. As per the media reports, MG is expected to price its Comet EV under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) in the country.

Lamborghini Urus S is essentially a comfort-based version of the Urus Performante and is slated to launch on the 13th of April 2023. It will share the same engine as Performante, which is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine (657 bhp/ 850 Nm) mated to an 8-speed torque converter unit. In addition, the company is likely to price its Urus S below the Performante model which is currently priced at Rs 4.22 crore (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz is also bringing its most powerful AMG GT 63 S E Performance model on the 11th of April in India. Compared to the standard AMG GT, this model will receive minor tweaks inside out. In addition, this AMG model will be powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine (630 bhp) which is paired with a 201 bhp electric motor. The combined power output will stand at 843 bhp and 1400 Nm torque. Mercedes is expected to price this upcoming performance car above Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom).

Lexus has announced the launch of its Fifth-Generation RX SUV this month. The four-wheeler was also showcased at the Auto Expo in Delhi. Based on the TNGA-K platform, the RX SUV will have two variants; 350h and 500h Sport, featuring 2.5-litre petrol hybrid and 2.6-litre turbo-petrol engine options. It is expected to have a starting price of Rs 1.10 crore, however, this will be confirmed once the model is officially launched.

The Innova Crysta is yet another MPV that will be launched this month by Toyota Kirloskar Motors. With minor updates to the exterior design, the New Crysta will only be powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine (147 bhp and 343 Nm) which will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. As far as the price is concerned, the MPV is likely to be in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom).
