With a kick-off at Delhi Auto Expo 2023, the Indian automotive industry is preparing to launch a slew of new car models including SUVs, sedans, hatchbacks, and MPV. The list of new cars includes Maruti Suzuki Brezza in CNG avatar, Toyota Innova Crysta Diesel, Baleno-based FRONX, and more. Here is what we can expect from the Indian car market in the first quarter of 2023.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors will relaunch the New Innova Crysta diesel in February 2023 along with its pricing. The company recently started accepting bookings against the 2023 Innova Crysta. The MPV will be offered with a 2.4-litre diesel engine. It is also expected that the four-wheeler will get a revised grille, front bumper, and fog lamp housing with the new updates.

The upcoming Brezza CNG will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15C DualJet engine, used in Ertiga CNG as well. The CNG engine in the MPV can churn out 98 bhp of max power output with 136 Nm of peak torque. Expect similar figures for the Brezza CNG. Besides, the company claims that the fuel efficiency of the 2023 Brezza CNG is expected to be 26.11 km/kg like the Ertiga. However, the XL6 and Ertiga offer only a 5-speed manual gearbox while the New Brezza is likely to offer a 6-speed torque converter automatic as well.

Further, its electric motor and battery pack will be capable of producing a combined power output of 56 bhp alongside 143 Nm of peak torque.

FRONX is Maruti's latest compact SUV which is based on the Baleno hatchback. The coupe-like SUV will be offered with two engine options; a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both are to be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission but the turbo-petrol will receive a 6-speed automatic and the petrol engine will get an AMT gearbox.

The fifth generation of RX was showcased by Lexus at Auto Expo 2023 and the model is likely to be launched very soon. The upcoming Lexus RX will be offered in two trims; RX 350h Luxury and RX 500h F Sport Performance. The model gets a choice of a 2.4-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.5-litre turbo petrol unit, both with strong hybrid assistance. The former is paired to a CVT while the latter has a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Next-Generation Verna is soon to be launched by Hyundai in March 2023. The sedan will receive a twin-screen setup along with an ADAS suite. The vehicle appears to be longer than the current Verna. Further, it will continue to carry a 1.5-litre petrol engine that can produce a power output of 113 bhp. It might also get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit capable of delivering 158 bhp.

Honda Car India is also going to launch the City with mild cosmetic updates. The Fifth-Generation City is scheduled to launch by March 2023. With a mid-lifecycle update, it will get redesigned front and rear bumpers alongside new alloy wheel design. Besides that the Japanese automaker is likely to shuffle up the variants of the sedan by including a more affordable version of the City e:HEV.
