Mahindra Thar 5-door launch is just around the corner. Ahead of its official debut on August 15, 2024, the undisguised images have surfaced online. The new Thar Armada will boast a new design language, making it look more unique than its 3-door counterpart. Let’s read more.
The images shared by RAJIT7778 on YouTube Shorts reveal the exterior of the upcoming Thar Armada 5-door. The production-ready model features a new design for the front grille with 6 vertical slats. Other exterior highlights are new LED projector headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs, a dual-tone front bumper with a pair of fog lamps, the turn indicators positioned on the fenders, sturdy ORVM, and a side step.
Inside, the 5-door Thar Armada is likely to feature a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, ventilated front seats, a digital instrument cluster, USB Type C charging ports, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS.
Despite adopting the new exterior look for the Mahindra Thar 5-door, it will share the engine options with the Scorpio N. Not just powertrain, the lifestyle SUV will be developed on the Scorpio N’s ladder-frame chassis. The engine options will include a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing 172PS and 203PS, respectively. Both engine options are expected to be mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Apart from this, the upcoming Thar could also get the entry-level 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel unit. This engine can generate 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. Based on the Scorpio N's platform, the 5-door Thar could get a 2WD for the lower trims and a 4WD system for the top-spec variants.
