Euro NCAP tests vehicles in four areas - adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, protection for vulnerable road users, and safety assistance technologies. The Hyundai NEXO performed very well in these tests, with 90% for adult protection and 85% for child protection.
The NEXO showed excellent results in adult protection, with the passenger area staying stable in crash tests. It also did well in whiplash protection in rear-impact tests.
For child protection, the NEXO performed well with six- and ten-year-old dummies, showing strong protection in both frontal and side-impact tests.

Hyundai NEXO comes with several advanced safety features that helped it achieve the five-star rating. These include the eCall system, which contacts emergency services automatically after a crash, and post-crash technology to prevent further damage. The NEXO is also designed to keep doors and windows working in case of submersion.
The NEXO is a hydrogen fuel-cell SUV, meaning it only produces water vapor from its exhaust, making it a zero-emission vehicle. This highlights Hyundai’s commitment to a cleaner environment and sustainable driving. The five-star safety rating proves that Hyundai is focused on both safety and eco-friendly driving.
This five-star rating continues Hyundai’s history of making safe and innovative vehicles. The NEXO’s previous generation was the first hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle tested by Euro NCAP in 2018, where it also earned a five-star rating. This new rating shows Hyundai’s continued progress in making vehicles safer and better for the environment.
