Ford Endeavour will return to India as the Ford Everest. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its specific launch timeline, the SUV is reported to debut in 2025. Prior to its official unveiling, the engine specifications of the Ford Everest have been leaked on the web. As per the leaked information, the full-sized SUV will be offered with the 2.0L twin-turbo diesel and 3.0L V6 turbo diesel engine options.
The twin-turbo motor could be assembled locally at Ford’s Sanand facility in Gujarat. It’s likely to power the lower variants of the SUV. The more powerful, V6 unit will be imported from South Africa.
The Ford Everest’s new 3.0L V6 diesel engine produces a maximum power of 250bhp at 3,250rpm and a peak torque of 600Nm from 1,750rpm – 2,250rpm. This powertrain will surely give it an advantage over its arch-rival – Toyota Fortuner, which is currently available with the 204bhp, 2.8L diesel engine.
Ford’s V6 diesel engine is a lightweight power machine, featuring cast iron block with aluminium alloy heads. The carmaker has also benefited the oil burner with several advanced technologies including the diesel particulate filter, common rail direct injection, selective catalytic reduction, AdBlue injection and variable geometry turbo. In global markets, the Ford Everest is offered with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and advanced 4WD drivetrain setup.
The Ford Everest (global-spec) is a capable off-road vehicle, featuring a 4X4 drivetrain system for electronic shift-on-the-fly with low-range gearing and a locking rear differential for better traction. The SUV comes with terrain management system offering drive modes like Mud/Ruts, Normal/Eco, Sand, Slippery and Tow/Haul. It comes with a water-wading capacity of 800mm.
Ford’s premium SUV features a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with portrait orientation. This unit supports Ford’s SYNC 4A system and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The SUV also comes with lots of comfort goodies including ventilated and heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, Bang & Olufsen sound system, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, tri-zone automatic climate control with vents for all three rows, Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite, 360-degree camera, nine airbags and more.
