Mahindra’s upcoming Vision S SUV has been spotted testing once again on Indian roads. The latest spy shots reveal more details about the production version, indicating that the SUV is getting closer to launch. The Mahindra Vision S will be a sub-4-metre SUV with a bold, boxy design and a strong road presence.
From what is visible, the SUV looks inspired by rugged off-roaders, but in a compact and city-friendly form. It is expected to sit below the Scorpio and will be positioned as a lifestyle-oriented SUV.

The camouflaged test mule shows a tall and upright stance with flat surfaces and squared edges. This gives the Mahindra Vision S a tough and muscular look, quite different from the rounded designs seen on most compact SUVs. The boxy shape should also help with better cabin space.
One of the biggest takeaways from the new spy shots is the confirmation of a diesel engine. The AdBlue cap seen next to the fuel filler confirms that the SUV uses a BS6 Phase-2 diesel motor. Inside the cabin, the gear lever clearly shows that this test vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission.
This is an important update, as diesel automatic options are rare in the sub-4-metre SUV segment. It could give the Mahindra Vision S a strong advantage over rivals.
The test vehicle appears to be a mid-spec variant. This is clear from the halogen indicators instead of LED units. Inside, it gets Mahindra’s regular steering wheel and fabric seat upholstery, suggesting this is not the top-end version.
The interior layout looks very similar to the Vision S concept shown last year. The dashboard design and air vents appear unchanged. Mahindra has also kept physical buttons for infotainment and climate control, which should make everyday use easier.
The cabin features a large touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster, giving it a modern feel while staying practical.
One standout Mahindra Vision S feature is the panoramic sunroof. The glass roof stretches almost till the rear seats, making it one of the few sub-4-metre SUVs to offer this feature. This adds a premium touch to the cabin.
At the back, the SUV offers three adjustable headrests and a 60:40 split rear seat. The boxy design is also expected to provide good headroom and usable space for rear passengers.
Mahindra Vision S launch in India is expected after further testing in the coming months. The SUV is likely to be based on Mahindra’s NU IQ platform. Along with the confirmed diesel automatic, petrol engine options are also expected.
