Mercedes-Benz has introduced the latest version of its AMG G 63 in India, with a starting price of Rs 3.60 crore (ex-showroom). The facelift brings a blend of refreshed design, advanced technology and enhanced performance, making it an even more desirable luxury SUV. The first batch of 120 units is already booked and new deliveries will begin in Q3 2025.
The new AMG G 63 is powered by the familiar 4-litre V8 engine, now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This electrification adds a 20bhp boost, taking the total power output to 585 bhp and torque to 850Nm. It also continues to feature the 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, allowing for manual control when needed. Sprint from 0-100 km/h comes in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 240 km/h, thanks to its new Race Start feature.
On the outside, the AMG G 63 maintains its classic boxy G-Class silhouette but includes several tweaks for improved aerodynamics. The front bumper now features vertical slats, while the A-pillars have been subtly rounded off. A new lip added to the windscreen further reduces noise and vibration. For added style, Mercedes offers an optional carbon fibre spare wheel cover. Keyless entry has also been introduced on the G-Class, requiring intricate design changes.
This SUV comes equipped with the MBUX infotainment system, featuring two 12.3-inch screens for both the driver display and multimedia interface. For the first time, the infotainment system is a touchscreen and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A high-end Burmester 18-speaker sound system enhances the luxury experience, while the redesigned three-spoke AMG steering wheel adds a sporty touch.
Mercedes has also improved the SUV's practicality, adding a revamped off-road control centre for easy access to off-road functions. Other new features include temperature-controlled cup holders and wireless charging for mobile devices.
Mercedes’ SUV boasts a ground clearance of 229mm, a water-wading depth of 700mm and an approach angle of 31 degrees. It can remain stable on slopes up to 35 degrees, making it an ideal vehicle for adventurous drivers.
The new AMG G 63 also introduces the AMG Active Ride Control, a hydraulic suspension system that replaces traditional anti-roll bars. This improves handling and comfort on both smooth roads and rough terrain. Optional 22-inch alloy wheels with a centre-locking mechanism are also on offer.
Through the MANUFAKTUR programme, the facelift offers extensive customisation options. Buyers can choose from 31 unique upholstery options and 29 paint colours, allowing for nearly limitless personalisation.
