Jaguar Type 01 expected to launch in India in 2027 Three electric motors produce 1,016bhp and 1,365Nm 118kWh battery offers a claimed range of up to 720km
Jaguar is preparing to bring its new electric flagship to India, with the Type 01 expected to launch in the country in 2027. The four-door electric grand tourer is the production version of the Type 00 concept and marks a major shift in Jaguar’s design and powertrain strategy. The Type 01 is built on Jaguar’s dedicated Electric Architecture (JEA) and uses a three-motor setup. It produces 1,016bhp and 1,365Nm, while the company claims a range of up to 720km.
Jaguar is expected to introduce the Type 01 in India during 2027. Globally, order books are expected to open in early 2027, with deliveries planned to begin in the second half of the year. The Type 01 will sit at the top end of Jaguar’s new electric range and is aimed at the luxury electric GT segment. Its India pricing and exact launch timeline are expected to be announced closer to its arrival.

The production Type 01 retains much of the styling first seen on the Type 00 concept. It gets a long bonnet, low roofline, upright front end and wide rear shoulders, giving it a distinctive four-door coupe profile. The electric GT measures more than 5.2 metres in length and has a wheelbase of around 3.2 metres. It also gets 23-inch wheels, flush door handles and smooth body surfaces. The front features slim lighting elements and Jaguar’s new grille-like strikethrough design. At the rear, the tail lights are integrated into the horizontal detailing and remain hidden when switched off. One of the most unusual design elements is the absence of a conventional rear windscreen. A rear-facing camera instead feeds a digital display inside the cabin.
The Jaguar Type 01 gets three electric motors, with one at the front and two at the rear. Together, they produce 1,016bhp and 1,365Nm. Jaguar claims a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 3.2 seconds. The electric GT can also accelerate from 100-180kmph in four seconds. The chassis uses double-wishbone front suspension and an integral-link rear setup. Air suspension, active dampers and torque vectoring are included, while rear-wheel steering helps reduce the turning circle to around 11.5 metres.
The Type 01 uses a 118kWh usable battery pack and has a claimed WLTP range of up to 720km. The battery uses a split-module layout to help accommodate the low body while providing additional foot space for rear passengers. The electric GT is based on an 850V electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW. Jaguar claims that the battery can charge from 10-80 per cent in around 22 minutes under suitable conditions. Around 321km of range can also be added in 13 minutes using a compatible fast charger.
Inside, the Type 01 gets a four-seat layout with a central spine separating the cabin into individual seating areas. All four seats are heated and ventilated. The dashboard features a large 24-inch OLED display, while a seven-inch vertical touchscreen handles functions such as climate control and media. Other highlights include a panoramic glass roof, a panoramic soundbar and a camera-based ClearSight rear-view display. Boot capacity stands at around 450 litres, with the rear seats folding to create additional luggage space.
More details on its India-spec version, pricing and booking timeline are expected closer to the 2027 launch.
