Mahindra Vision T patented in India Based on the NU_IQ platform It is expected to be launched sometime in late 2027 or early 2028
Mahindra is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the highly competitive Indian auto market. The company will introduce its new range of vehicles based on the NU_IQ platform. The Vision S will be the first model to be built on this new architecture, and testing of the SUV has already been commenced. The homegrown automaker has now patented the Vision T and Vision SXT, which are expected to be introduced by the end of 2027 or early 2028.
The latest Vision T patent image reveals that the production-version looks largely identical to the concept. The Mahindra Vision T Concept is basically the evolved version of the Thar.e concept that debuted in August 2023. The patent appears more evolved with several production-like design elements. We expect the production-ready Mahindra Vision T based Thar electric and ICE versions will arrive sometime in late 2027 or early 2028.
This SUV belongs to the Thar Family, and shares several signature That-like styling elements. It will have a signature split front grille with horizontal slats. Flared wheel arches, a tail-gate mounted spare wheel and bonnet latches. The concept had stylish headlamp setup with central squarish LED unit, which are complemented by four LED DRLs. The rear also gets LED tail-lights.
The off-roader design elements will be on offer, including an off-road spec bumper with hook at the front. It retains an upright and boxy profile, and a high ground clearance. The squarish flared wheel arches houses all terrain tyres. This new SUV will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV, targeting both urban and adventure lovers.
The Vision T based lifestyle SUV will be based on the all-new NU_IQ architecture, which is compatible with SUVs measuring between 3990mm and 4320mm. This SUV has a wheelbase of 2665mm, which is even bigger than many midsize SUVs. It is expected to feature a low-range transfer case, AWD, and electronic differential. The SUV will also receive a dedicated off-road modes. It is expected that the Vision T will be offered with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains.
