Mahindra to launch 16 new SUVs in India over next 5 years Upcoming lineup includes 10 ICE SUVs and 6 EVs New NU_IQ platform to support both ICE and electric models
Mahindra is preparing a major SUV offensive for the Indian market over the next five years. The company has confirmed plans to launch 16 new models between FY2027 and FY2031, strengthening its presence across both ICE and electric vehicle segments.
The announcement was made during Mahindra’s Q4 FY2026 earnings conference call by Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of the company’s auto and farm divisions.

Out of the 16 upcoming launches, 10 will be ICE SUVs while 6 will be electric vehicles. Mahindra revealed that seven of these products were already part of its earlier roadmap announced in 2024, while nine are completely new additions.
The company still has four ICE SUVs and three EVs pending from its previous plan. Along with these, Mahindra will now launch six additional ICE SUVs and three more EVs.
This shows that Mahindra is continuing to focus strongly on petrol and diesel SUVs, even while rapidly expanding its EV portfolio.
Mahindra confirmed that out of the 10 ICE launches, only one will be a facelift of an existing product. The remaining SUVs will be completely new nameplates.
This could also mean that one of the expected updates for the Scorpio-N or Thar may arrive with a refreshed identity or even a new name. Mahindra has previously renamed products during their lifecycle, with the XUV700 being one recent example.
A major part of Mahindra’s future strategy revolves around its upcoming NU_IQ multi-energy platform. The first SUV based on this architecture will arrive in 2027 and will be inspired by the Vision.S concept.
Mahindra also plans to launch a pure electric SUV derived from the Vision.T concept, expected to be positioned as an electric alternative to the Thar Roxx. This model could arrive later in the same year.
According to Rajesh Jejurikar, at least 3-4 products will be developed using the NU_IQ platform.
Mahindra’s EV strategy is also seeing a major shift. While current electric SUVs like the BE 6, XEV 9S, and XEV 9e are based on the dedicated INGLO platform, future EVs could move to the new NU_IQ architecture.
This platform can support both ICE and EV powertrains, helping Mahindra reduce costs and speed up development.
One upcoming EV expected around 2027 is the production version of the BE.07 concept, which could rival the Tata Harrier.ev in India.
