In the recent times, we have seen auto manufacturers are experimenting on the styling aspect of their products. The SUV Coupe name was earlier associated with premium or luxury cars, but things are changing now. After Tata Motors and Citroen, more brands are ready to introduce mass-market Coupe SUVs in the country.
Mahindra will also launch 2 new models in the SUV category with Coupe-SUV treatment. Let's talk in detail about these two upcoming SUV Coupes in our market -
The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra will launch an all-new 5-seater SUV Coupe based on the XUV.e9 concept in 2025. This model has been spotted multiple times on the Indian roads. It will sit above the brand's upcoming XUV.e8 7-seater electric SUV. The production version of the SUV Coupe is expected to be unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show.
This 5-seater Coupe SUV will be based on the INGLO architecture, a skateboard platform that supports different body styles, sizes and powertrain options. It is expected to be packed with a battery pack of around 80kWh with a range of over 500km on a single charge. The SUV will come with an RWD setup as standard, while the top-spec model will come with a dual-motor AWD setup. The power outputs are expected to range between 230bhp and 350bhp.
The spy images reveal that the SUV will have full-width LED lighting system, tail-lights with an LED light band, flush-type door handles, a raked roofline extending into the rear, a closed-off grille and prominent gloss-black cladding. Inside the cabin, the Mahindra XUV.e9 gets three 12.3-inch HD displays integrated into the panel. The SUV Coupe will have twin-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, automatic climate control, a Head-Up Display with augmented navigation, Level 2 ADAS and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.
The first Coupe SUV from the house of Mahindra is expected to be introduced in January 2025. To be based on the Mahindra BE.05 concept, the SUV Coupe has recently been snapped in a production avatar. Likely to be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025, the new SUV Coupe will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki EVX, MG ZS EV and others.
The production-ready model looks similar to the concept, except for the few changes to become road legal. Instead of three screens in XUV.e9, the Mahindra BE 05 will have twin digital screens for infotainment and driver's display. Other features include a twin-spoke multifunction steering wheel with backlit BE logo, a HUD, airplane-inspired gear lever, Level 2 ADAS, multiple drive modes and others.
This model will be based on the brand's new skateboard architecture, which will underpin the XUV and BE range of EVs. It is likely to be packed with a 60kWh battery pack with two electric motors. The SUV Coupe is expected to offer a range of around 500km on a single charge. It will come with RWD setup as standard and AWD drivetrain as an optional in top-models.
