Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ made its first public debut at the Japan Mobility Show in 2025. The “FJ” stands for ‘Freedom & Joy’, and it will serve as the entry-level model in the brand’s Land Cruiser lineup. The SUV shares its ladder-frame chassis with the Fortuner, and features a boxy and upright stance.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Launch Date

The new Land Cruiser FJ will be first launched in its home market, Japan, by mid-2026, followed by other global markets. However, it won’t make its way to India anytime soon, with its expected launch here slated for late 2028.  

Land Cruiser FJ Expected Price in India

Toyota’s new Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra is likely to serve as the production hub for the SUV. Local manufacturing could help the carmaker achieve competitive pricing. The rugged Land Crusier FJ is expected to be priced between ₹25.00 Lakhs* – ₹35.00 Lakhs* (ex-showroom).

Key Features

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ shares its platform with the Fortuner and Hilux, while its boxy and upright silhouette appears to be inspired by the Land Cruiser Prado. The SUV features sporty front and rear bumpers, C-shaped headlamps, body cladding and an externally mounted spare wheel at the rear. Interestingly, the bumpers are removable, allowing room for customisation. The 4X4 version comes with circular headlamp clusters.

The Land Cruiser FJ measures 4,575mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,960mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,580mm. It offers a ground clearance of 215.3mm, and turning radius of 5.5m. The SUV also offers an approach angle of 31 degrees.

The interior layout closely resemblance that of the Prado, featuring large grab handles integrated on the A-pillar and circular air-conditioning vents. However, the dashboard design and materials are slightly different. The SUV also features a 12.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a sporty gearlever, a basic digital instrument cluster, physical buttons and switches, Toyota’s Safety Sense ADAS suite and more.

Engine Specifications

The Land Cruiser FJ is expected to be offered with multiple powertrain options, including petrol, strong and plug-in hybrid. There will be no diesel engine on offer. In India, the SUV might come with a 2.7L petrol engine, producing 163bhp and 246Nm. The model showcased at the Japan Mobility Show last year was equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time AWD (all-wheel drive) system.

Competition

In Toyota’s lineup, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will sit below the Fortuner and take on the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha 5-door.
