Toyota Land Cruiser FJ priced at THB 12,69,000, approx INR 36.5 lakh Gets a 2.7L petrol engine with a 6-speed automatic gearbox India launch expected in 2028
The long-awaited Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has finally made its South ASEAN debut. The lifestyle off-roader has been launched in Thailand in a single variant, priced at THB 12,69,000 (Approx INR 36.5 lakh). This is an introductory price tag, which will be available until August 2026. Interestingly, the Land Cruiser FJ is priced higher than the base variant of the Toyota Fortuner (Approx INR 35.58 lakh) in Thailand.
The compact off-roader is currently manufactured in Thailand. The company also plans to introduce the new Land Cruiser FJ in India by 2028. It could be the first product to roll out from Toyota’s upcoming Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra. Sales of the new FJ will begin in home market, Japan by May 2026. It will be positioned below the Fortuner in Toyota’s line-up, and will come as a premium alternative to the likes of the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Scorpio-N.

The Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine that produces 166hp and 245Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with sequential shift. It is based on the ladder-frame chassis, called the IMV, which also underpins the Toyota Fortuner and Innova Crysta. The SUV uses a part-time 4WD setup with a rear differential lock.
The India-spec model is rumoured to be offered with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine with a mild-hybrid setup. Moreover, Toyota could also introduce the strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the Land Cruiser FJ.
It is available in 3 exterior colour choices, including a new Smoky Blue, Platinum White Pearl Mica and Ash. The lifestyle SUV rides on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 265/80 section tyres. In terms of proportions, the new Land Cruiser FJ is 4610mm in length, 1855mm in width and 1890mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2580mm. It has a boot space of 765-litres. The new FJ has a minimum ground clearance of 215.3mm, and has an excellent approach angle of 31 degrees.
Despite compact shape, the new FJ looks as tough as bigger Land Cruisers. It has an upright stance and rugged design elements. Upfront is a rectangular grille in gloss black that houses ’TOYOTA’ motif at the centre, a C-shaped LED DRLs, and a chunky bumper with fog lamps and a silver skid plate. Boxy silhouette is complemented with flared fenders and wheel arches, prominent black cladding, tailgate mounted spare wheel and a chunky rear bumper.
The new Land Cruiser FJ comes with an all-black interior scheme. It is packed with a large 12.3-inch centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment unit, round air-con vents on either sides of the dashboard, a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a 7-inch instrument console. Other features include leatherette seats, USB Type-C ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, and auto-dimming IRVM.
For safety and security, the compact off-roader gets 7 airbags, cruise control, a 360-degree surround view camera, traction control system, vehicle stability control system, hill-start assist control, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and ADAS tech.
