Indian automaker, Force Motors has been working on a five-door version of the Gurkha for a while now. Recently, some fresh spy shots from the test runs have revealed the interior of the new SUV. While the exterior of the test mule was clad in camouflage, the interior was surprisingly not. Currently, the Gurkha competes with the Mahindra Thar.
The spy images circulating on the internet revealed the production ready interiors of the Force Gurkha 5-door. Similar to its 3-door sibling, the new SUV retains the dark grey dashboard along with manual AC controls, central power window switches, and the 7-inch aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new Force Gurkha will retain the 2.6-litre turbodiesel unit that makes 91 bhp and 250 Nm of peak figures. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4x4 system with a low ratio and locking differentials.
Though Force hasn’t revealed any details about a launch date or price for the Gurkha 5-door, expect it to be at least Rs 1 lakh more expensive than its 3-door counterpart.
At launch the Force Gurkha 5-door will not have any direct competitors. However, Mahindra is planning to launch the 5-door version of the Thar sometime around next year, while the Maruti Suzuki is also reportedly launching the Jimny 5-door around the same time to compete with the new model.
