Hyundai Motor India has announced that the Creta is now the highest-selling passenger vehicle in the country from January to July 2025. With 1,17,458 units sold during this period, the popular mid-size SUV recorded an 8% year-on-year growth compared to the same time in 2024. This makes the Creta the best-selling car across all segments in India.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Hyundai Creta has become a symbol of power, style, and reliability in the Indian car market. Despite growing competition in the mid-size SUV segment, it continues to lead the way.
Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, said, “Becoming India’s best-selling car across all segments is not just a sales milestone—it reflects the emotional connect Creta has built over the years. We are grateful for our customers’ trust and will keep raising the bar in customer experience.”
- Hyundai sold 1,86,919 units of Creta in 2024, twice the number sold in 2016.
- It holds over 31% share in the mid-size SUV market.
- It was the top-selling car in India for 3 out of the first 6 months of 2025.
- Around 70% of buyers opted for sunroof variants (Jan–June 2025).
- First-time buyers grew from 12% in 2020 to 29% in 2024.
Hyundai is already planning for the future with the third-generation Creta expected to launch in 2027. The new model will bring major updates in design, features, and performance.
The upcoming Creta will offer four powertrain options:
- 1.5L NA Petrol (115hp)
- 1.5L Turbo Petrol (160hp)
- 1.5L Diesel (116hp)
- 1.5L Petrol-Hybrid (New!)
The petrol-hybrid variant will be Hyundai’s answer to rising demand for fuel-efficient SUVs, especially with new emission norms like CAFE 3 coming soon.
Hyundai’s plan includes a strong push for hybrids, filling the gap between ICE vehicles and EVs. The Creta hybrid will aim at buyers in the Rs 15–30 lakh SUV market, both in India and abroad.
Alongside, Hyundai is also developing a Creta Electric facelift, expected in 2027. This will bring design tweaks, tech upgrades, and better range, keeping the electric model fresh and competitive.
